TikTok engagement rate calculator

On TikTok the most useful rate is by views, because videos reach far beyond your followers. This works it out both ways.

Your TikTok engagement rate

On TikTok the rate by views tells you most, because videos reach far beyond your followers. Around 4–8% of views is typical; more is strong.

By views or by followers?

By views: (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views × 100. It tells you how people who actually saw the video reacted. By followers: the same interactions ÷ followers × 100. It’s what brands often quote, but on TikTok it can swing wildly because one video can be seen by a hundred times your follower count.

What’s normal

  • Under 3% of views: people watched but didn’t react much.
  • 3–8%: typical.
  • 8–15%: strong.
  • Over 15%: exceptional, usually on smaller videos with a loyal audience.

Before you add likes

Likes far above the view count look odd. Use this tool, then the ratio tool, to choose a likes bundle that keeps the numbers in line.

Filling in from an account

Type a public TikTok username and the tool fills in followers and a rough likes-per-video figure (total likes divided by videos, so an estimate). Views, comments and shares per video aren’t on the profile, so add those for the video you’re checking.

Questions

Common questions

My follower-based rate is above 100%. Why?
The video reached far more people than follow you, which happens a lot on TikTok. The views-based figure is the one to read.
Are saves counted?
TikTok doesn’t show saves publicly on every video, so they’re left out to keep the numbers comparable.
