How TikTok’s For You page works

TikTok is unusual: it shows your videos to strangers first and asks your followers later. Understanding that changes how you should think about followers, likes and posting.

Each upload starts with a trial run

A fresh video is served first to a small batch of viewers, plenty of whom have never come across your account. TikTok measures what that batch does. Strong completion, replays, shares or comments earn the clip a wider audience, then a wider one again. A quick swipe-away from most of the batch ends its run early.

What the feed weighs

  • Completion and rewatches. The strongest signal. Short, tight videos have an advantage.
  • Shares and saves. A sign people found it worth passing on or keeping.
  • Comments. Especially when you reply and a conversation starts.
  • Likes. Counted, but weaker than the above.
  • Follows from the video. When viewers follow after watching, TikTok takes that as a strong vote.

Why followers matter less, and still matter

Because videos are judged one at a time, a brand-new account can go viral. But the profile still matters at the moment a viewer taps through: that’s when they decide whether to follow. A credible follower count and a few strong pinned videos make that decision easier. That is the honest case for a modest TikTok follower bundle.

Where bought likes fit

Likes on a video change how it looks, not how it performs. They don’t add completions or shares, so they won’t carry a weak video into the feed. On a strong video they make the reaction look as good as it is. Keep likes in proportion to views; our TikTok engagement calculator helps.

Posting from Ireland

TikTok tends to show videos to people near you and in your language first. Irish slang, places and humour help a video find its first audience here. Evenings and weekends are typically busy, but check your own analytics after a few weeks.

What to do with that

Spend your effort on the first two seconds of each video, keep them short enough to rewatch, and reply to comments with video replies when you can. Pin your three best videos to the profile so people who tap through see your strongest work first.

Questions

Common questions

Does a bigger follower count mean more views?
Only slightly. TikTok judges each video by how viewers react, so a strong video can travel from a small account.
Should I delete videos that flopped?
Usually not. Old videos sometimes pick up later, and deleting lots of posts doesn’t help.
